I am a middle school CTE teacher. Since I use so many projects as a part of the curriculum, as opposed to tests, I have developed some useful processes. I will share how I use Skill Builders, which help with the “extra time” after some students finish, how I have students request regrades, how I incorporate choice in projects, and scaffolding.
Effective communication between teachers and parents is crucial for fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for students. In this session, participants will explore the importance of building strong, collaborative partnerships with parents and learn strategies for clear, respectful, and consistent communication. We will discuss practical tools and approaches for initiating and maintaining open lines of dialogue, handling challenging conversations with empathy and professionalism, and setting goals together to support student success. Whether through conferences, emails, or phone calls, this session will equip educators with the skills and confidence to engage parents effectively and ensure that students receive the best possible support both in the classroom and at home.
