WLC25 - HPISD Winter Learning Conference

This session is intended to provide an overview of TEA’s A-F Accountability System to develop a better understanding of how ratings are calculated. Participants will also have the opportunity review campus and district data to identify areas of strength and opportunities for growth.

Region 10 staff will present information on how adults can take care of themselves.

This 45-minute class is designed specifically for employees with less than five years of experience across all job classifications. The curriculum is structured to provide a foundational understanding of the Teacher Retirement System (TRS), explaining how contributions reflected on paycheck stubs translate into pension benefits. It also explores options for enhancing future pensions, such as 403b and 457 plans, emphasizing the critical role of time in investment growth due to compounding. Additionally, the importance of establishing a basic financial plan is discussed, along with an overview of selected supplemental benefit options that align with employees' financial goals. The program also highlights the Employee Assistance Program's (EAP) contribution to achieving positive wellness outcomes and how employees can more effectively utilize this service.

Each day all people face different types of challenges and problems. This session offers many strategies for helping people choose positivity and happiness daily.

This session will briefly describe Section 504 as outline in the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (revised 1978 to include Section 504). It would cover the basics every educator should know such as eligibility, data to consider, the purpose of a plan, and your role as the educator in the process.

Universal Design for Learning is a framework used to support the varying ways that students approach, access and process information. Through a variety of scenarios, participants will develop skills to help students master content beyond the use of paper and pencil tasks. Developing skills to modify content area work is an essential part of this session.
