This session for any classroom with discussion-based learning will focus on three specific action steps: (1) keep neutral/manage your tell (2) teach students to agree and build off one another’s responses (3) teach students to disagree respectfully. After viewing a model and naming the skill, teachers will get an opportunity to practice this skill in small groups with live coaching.
In this session, participants will dive into STAAR writing by examining rubrics and analyzing student writing samples to understand expectations and scoring criteria. We will explore practical strategies and techniques designed to help students craft strong short constructed responses and meet STAAR writing standards. By the end of the session, educators will leave with actionable tools and insights to guide their students toward success in STAAR writing tasks.
